Can towels get stolen at the beach or pool in Egyptian resorts?

Despite the guide's warning that there are no beach cameras, after a towel was stolen, 5-star building security actually identified the thief via cameras (a heavyset woman with a large orange beach bag) and issued a replacement towel card.

According to guests, staff may remove towels from a lounger if nothing except the towels is left there. If personal belongings are on the towel, staff are not supposed to touch it.

Recent reports say beach towels go missing regularly, and this hotel may now charge a $10 penalty for a lost towel rather than $20. Guests also noted that items by the pools were usually left untouched until about 7:00 pm.
