How to get an Egypt visa if e-visa is not available for your country?

Getting Egyptian residency (ВНЖ) is not a workaround for the visa issue — it's only granted to spouses of Egyptian citizens, property owners, students, etc. under specific conditions. However, tourists from certain countries can obtain a separate resident tourist visa, though this depends on nationality and isn't a general option.

Travelers who cannot use the e-visa and are not eligible for visa on arrival may need a guarantee letter from a tour operator — without it, a visa cannot be issued at the border. Obtaining such a letter at the airport through informal channels is technically possible but illegal and unreliable, with far more failures than successes.

Travelers from countries where Egypt's e-visa is unavailable must apply in person at the Egyptian embassy or use a visa application center — there is no online option.

The plastic Egypt visa is issued without an interview: submit documents, pay around $150 in Egyptian pounds, and receive a receipt plus a waiting stamp in your passport. You can travel freely with the stamp, but keep the receipt on you — police often don't recognize it and may ask to see a visa.

If you obtain an Egyptian visa in your home country before traveling, entry is permitted. However, visa on arrival at the airport is not available as an alternative — the visa must be arranged in advance.
