Is it safe to swim beyond the buoys at Egyptian resort hotels?

Beyond the buoys, yachts are typically anchored and the depth drops to several times a person's height. Guests generally don't swim out there. Swimming along the buoy line is the safer alternative.

Hotel security patrols in small canoe-style boats and quickly intercepts anyone who swims past the buoys, escorting them back. Some experienced swimmers bring a basic first aid kit when venturing near the boundary.

At Continental hotel (and similar resorts), boat patrols have been introduced specifically to monitor the buoy zone and prevent guests from swimming beyond it.
