Which Hurghada hotel is best for snorkeling and reef access?

Rotana is described as having a fairly good house reef for snorkeling: recent reports mention rays, moray eels, eagle rays, and a varied fish population, including some uncommon species. It was rated clearly better than Monte Carlo in direct comparison.

Sunrise Alma Bay 4* is recommended as a good option if sea access and reef viewing matter: the water entry is very comfortable, and the reef can be reached from the pier. The main caveat is that low tides do happen.

Swimming left from the sunken pontoon reveals live corals and plenty of fish — a beautiful spot. Lifeguards may whistle to call you back. Marine life has noticeably decreased compared to 5 years ago, but it's still worth visiting.

Beach Albatros 4* is a solid snorkeling option. The reef is small and fish aren't abundant, but you can spot rare and interesting species. The sea right by the hotel is pleasant.

One 3- or 4-star hotel in the area also has a nice sea right by the beach, though the price was higher than typical for its star rating.
