How hot is Hurghada in July and how to plan excursions around the heat?

TL;DR

In July temperatures climb fast to 38°C+, so land excursions like desert trips to Ras Mohammed are brutal — stick to sea tours or visit outdoor sights early morning or evening instead.

Arriving in early July it was around 33°C, but by day three it climbed to 38°C+. A boat excursion was great, but a land trip through the desert to Ras Mohammed felt brutal — like being on a hot frying pan.

After a night flight, the room was given for free at 10am instead of the standard 14:00 check-in, so it was possible to catch sunrise right on the beach — stunning and noticeably cooler than daytime.

Visiting Sand City (sand sculpture park) at 4:30pm as part of a tour was scorching hot — the bright sun made it hard to even properly see or photograph the sculptures. It would be more comfortable to go in the evening after sunset, if the site is open then.
