Mamsha vs Sheraton — which area is better to stay in Hurghada?

Room category upgrades should be requested at booking time; upgrading on-site is only possible if rooms of that category are available.

Mamsha area mostly has gentle sea entry, but Hurghada itself has only one reef spot, at Zahabia and Sunny Days hotels. Another reef is in the Cora suburb at Citadel Pickalbatros hotel (about 20 minutes from central Hurghada).

For travelers with high expectations for service and food, Steigenberger Aldau on Mamsha is recommended — it has no reef, so a separate reef excursion is suggested.

A relatively new hotel called Serry on Mamsha fits most requirements except it has no reef.

Sheraton area has only 4-star hotels but offers more local flavor and lots of shops nearby. Mamsha is a calmer, more purely touristic area without much local color, but has better hotels, a pedestrian shopping street, and easy access to the Kaouser district to see how well-off locals live.

Hurghada has two central areas: Mamsha (hotel strip from Marlin Inn to Gravity Hurghada, more expensive) and Sheraton (more budget, only 4-star hotels: Regina, MinaMark, Le Pacha, Segal, Bella Vista).
