Where is it safe to swim in the sea in Hurghada, and which spots near piers/boat moorings should you avoid?

The sea in Hurghada is shared water, so authorities can't fully control cleanliness — the main way to limit pollution is regulating how many boats/yachts are allowed per area.

During a boat snorkeling trip, one traveler's wetsuit/vest sleeve got torn during the dive and had to be fully ripped off on the boat afterward to swim comfortably — worth checking your gear before diving in.

Near the Savoy hotel area, a lifeguard stopped swimmers from heading further toward the Concorde landmark. The nearby island (Aidland) area is empty and the far pier is closed, apparently for repairs.
