Best snorkeling spots accessible from the beach in Sharm el-Sheikh

Among Sharm’s shore-accessible reefs, El Fanar is often rated higher than the reef at Concorde if your main goal is the best beach-entry snorkeling.

The reef off Concorde is generally considered a solid beach-snorkeling option: not all of it is live coral, but there are colorful sections and attractive coral “maze” formations toward Island View. Reported sightings include rays, a Napoleon wrasse, and plenty of small reef fish.

Within the buoy line at Mövenpick beach there are excellent shallow coral bommies with great visibility, and the coral wall also has plenty to see. There are two spots where clownfish (Nemo) live: one inside the buoys, another just beyond them.

Swimming right from the Mövenpick beaches reveals good coral and diverse fish. It's a solid shore-snorkeling option, though it pales in comparison to Marsa Mubarak.

Mövenpick in Sharm el-Sheikh is a great pick for reef lovers: it has coral zones, coral heads (bommies), and a sandy beach entry. Of the hotel's three beaches, the rightmost one (facing the sea) is the best. Naama Bay is within walking distance.

For the most memorable snorkeling in the area, head to Marsa Mubarak where you can encounter sea turtles and dugongs. After that, standard Sharm reefs feel underwhelming.
