Avoid rooms with connecting doors to neighboring rooms — sound travels easily through them. Newer renovated buildings can be noisier than old ones due to nearby construction, hotel entrance proximity, or thin bathroom doors.

Newer rooms have much worse sound insulation than old buildings. If the room faces the hotel entrance and renovation work is ongoing nearby (starting at 7:40 AM), it can be very uncomfortable — better to request an old-building room.

Renovated rooms are located far from the beach, restaurants and entertainment areas. Also, in the new rooms the bathroom door is glass and doesn't lock, which can be uncomfortable for privacy.

About 90% of hotel rooms have a connecting door to the neighboring room. Even though the door locks on both sides, sound insulation is poor — if a family with kids stays next door, noise will be clearly audible. Ask reception for a room without a connecting door.
