TL;DR
All-inclusive food at Sharm el-Sheikh hotels tends to be repetitive — breakfasts are bland and desserts disappointing, but Indian restaurants and meat dishes (beef/lamb) stand out. For variety, head to Old Town or Soho Square.
If the hotel food is disappointing, some travelers recommend booking without meals and shopping at Metro instead: kefir, sour cream, yogurt, turkey sausage, olives, vegetables, fish, and ready-cooked beef are available there. Some people even ate the prepared beef at the in-store tables.
Recent feedback says the breakfast dairy items — especially cheese and curd/cottage cheese — may taste unpleasant or even inedible. Beef sausage also gets poor reviews and is described as very dry.
At Albatros hotel, a full lunch with all drinks including beer and cocktails is reportedly available for around $40. Confirm details on arrival.
Food at Sentido and Rifa hotels is nearly identical. The only notable difference spotted was borsch served once at Sentido. Lunches are generally better than dinners; breakfasts are repetitive.
The Indian à la carte restaurant at the hotel was the clear highlight — dishes were excellent, especially the lamb soup. However, the food is too spicy for children; families with kids left without eating much.
The Italian à la carte and kebab restaurants were disappointing — the kebab restaurant served the same dishes already available at the main buffet, offering no real added value.
The buffet fruit selection was a pleasant surprise: watermelon, melon, apples, peaches, dates, and figs. Beef and lamb dishes were varied and good. Desserts, however, were very poor.
For a break from hotel food, Old Town has a Carrefour supermarket and a local market where you can buy sour cream, kefir, olives, cheese, and ready-made dishes. Only turkey sausage is worth buying — other types are very dry.
