TL;DR
Water temperatures in Sharm el-Sheikh range from 23–24°C in January to 30–33°C in August. June 2026 was unusually cool at just 26–27°C.
In January, swimming was comfortable and pleasant. Only one day had cold wind, so a heated pool was used instead of the sea that day. Otherwise the sea was fine, and it was even sunny enough to get sunburned.
In February, sea temperature was 23–25°C, with air at 27–29°C during the day and 16–18°C in the evening. The traveler noted this was a lucky year weather-wise, as conditions vary a lot year to year.
Based on multi-year observations, October sea used to be very warm, like warm milk. But in recent years this has shifted — the sea now starts cooling down as early as September 15.
Last September the sea wasn't quite as warm as 'warm milk', but noticeably warmer than in May. Since the area isn't a closed bay, currents are common and water temperature can vary by spot — possibly influenced by tides.
In early July 2026, the sea in Sharm el-Sheikh was estimated at about 28–29°C. However, because spring had been unusually cold, some tourists still felt the water was a bit cool for the season.
In early November, the sea remains warm and suitable for swimming and sunbathing. Based on local experience, the real low season in Sharm el-Sheikh begins around the second half of December.
In mid-June the previous year (arriving June 15), the water felt cold in the first few days. This year in mid-May, the water was cold enough that one swimmer caught a chill on the first day and was ill for the entire holiday.
In late May to early June, the water was fine for swimming overall, but on the last day during high tide it turned noticeably cold near the shore.
In late March, the water was cold — the jacuzzi and water park were open but barely used due to the low water temperature.
In April the water was clear and comfortable enough to swim for 40–50 minutes at a stretch — a huge difference compared to March.
In late April 2026 (24 Apr – 1 May), water was around +25°C. Two windy days without swimming, but overall pleasant and not too hot.
In August the water itself is very warm — like warm milk — but getting out can feel cool.
