Do Georgian border control officers check return tickets and travel insurance when entering Batumi?

An airline confirmed it would let a passenger board without a return ticket, but warned that Georgian border control still has final say and could turn someone away on arrival. There's no way to contact border control in advance to check the rules, as no contact info is available.

On arrival in Batumi, border officers rarely ask questions. Over a year of living in Georgia with around four border crossings, the only question asked was whether the traveler had flown from Baku — nothing else.

Return tickets and travel insurance were checked at the departure gate in Russia before boarding, not on arrival in Batumi. Passengers were asked about their return plans at the Russian side of the journey.
