How to buy train tickets from Tbilisi to Baku or Yerevan online?

One traveler noted that a couple of days ago many Tbilisi–Baku train tickets suddenly became available — reportedly because of an incident in one region of Azerbaijan that halted a local train, causing extra carriages to be redirected to the Tbilisi route.

On the Georgian Railway website, you can choose a specific seat for an extra 1 GEL, or buy without seat selection. Tickets a couple of days before departure are usually still available, especially for a single ticket — but this is not guaranteed.

Tbilisi–Baku tickets are also sold on the ADY (Azerbaijani Railways) website, but availability for a specific date can be hard to find there. Tickets are available at the Tbilisi railway station ticket office, so buying them from resellers at inflated prices is not necessary.

Tbilisi–Batumi commuter train tickets can be bought for cash at Tbilisi Central Railway Station approximately 5 days before departure. Payment is accepted in Georgian lari.

Tickets from Vladikavkaz to Tbilisi can be bought at the bus station or via the carrier's official website. Online booking is more convenient, but availability should be checked in advance.

The Tbilisi–Yerevan train is sometimes unavailable for online booking, with the site returning a 'no routes found' error. This is often a temporary technical issue — try again the next day or go to the station in person.

Tbilisi–Baku train tickets can be purchased online from abroad via the Georgian Railway website. A standard compartment fits 4 adults; a child under 5 typically shares a berth with an adult or requires a separate ticket depending on the booking rules.
