If you want a mix of beach time and some nature, South Bali—especially Jimbaran—is a common choice. It is calmer than Canggu or Seminyak, has a long sandy beach, and gives easy access to Uluwatu, which makes it a practical first-time base.

For nearby islands, travelers often look at the Gili Islands for a few days of clearer water and a classic island vibe. Fast boats from Bali are the usual route, while Nusa Penida is a closer and logistically easier alternative.

Public transport in Bali is limited, so most visitors move between areas by Grab, Gojek, or a private driver for the day. That is usually much easier than relying on buses, especially if you stay near the beach.

If you are based in Jimbaran and want occasional surf sessions, Dreamland and Padang Padang in the Uluwatu area are the usual nearby options. They make more sense for a day trip than crossing the whole island.
