How to fill out the Maldives IMUGA immigration form before arrival, and do you need a return ticket to enter?

Border officers sometimes ask for proof of a return flight on arrival — it's best to have a booking for your return or onward flight ready, even if not fully paid yet.

In the IMUGA form you need to select your arrival airport — for most travelers this is Velana International Airport (MLE) in Malé, even if you're transferring to a domestic flight to your resort island.

If your flight number isn't in the IMUGA dropdown list, the airline hasn't uploaded it yet — flight data usually appears 24–48 hours before departure, so try again later or contact site support.

You don't need to fill out a separate paper immigration card or declaration — all information is submitted online in advance through the IMUGA system, and on arrival you just show the generated QR code.

The IMUGA form can only be submitted within 24 hours before departure — you can still complete it even while already at the airport, right before boarding.
