Best time to visit Mahe, Seychelles: seaweed, storms, and weather by month

At Anse Royale beach, seaweed has been heavy during the last week of June — unpleasant for beach time, though fine if just staying in the area.

July on Mahé can bring strong winds and waves, especially on southeast-facing beaches. Sea temperature drops to around 25°C instead of the usual 28°C+. On the upside, humidity is lower and the heat is less oppressive. The best months overall are considered to be March–April and October–November.

Mid to late December on Mahe can bring overcast skies, rain, and choppy seas. It's not the most reliable month for beach holidays, though sunny days do occur. First-time visitors are better off choosing a calmer season.

Early November in the Seychelles is generally a good time to visit: the ocean is warm, seaweed is usually minimal, and plankton blooms are not a typical concern during this period.

Late June on Mahe carries some seaweed risk depending on currents and wind — hard to predict in advance. To minimise the issue, opt for sheltered beaches on the west or north coast rather than those exposed to the southeast trade winds.
