Dolmabahce Palace tickets and the Art Gallery garden tickets are separate. The palace ticket covers all palace complex areas. The gallery garden ticket only covers that garden. If you just want the Bosphorus gate views, the garden-only ticket is enough.

About 700 metres from the main Dolmabahce entrance is the Istanbul Museum of Painting (Resim Müzesi) with its own garden, Bosphorus gates very similar to Dolmabahce's, and a swan pond. There's almost never a queue here since most tourists don't know about it.

The Museum of Painting sells three ticket types: garden only (~150 lira), garden + museum (~550 lira), and a combined ticket (~2000 lira) covering the museum, its garden, Dolmabahce Palace, and the palace garden. To find the Museum of Painting entrance: from the main Dolmabahce gate, walk left around the palace until you reach an archway in a building with white windows on either side, marked 'Museum of Painting'. Walk through the arch — the rest is straightforward.
