İstiklal Avenue is occasionally closed off by police with barriers — guests at nearby hotels may find themselves temporarily unable to leave. This is typically a planned or emergency traffic restriction, not a crime situation.

When closures are in effect, Tarlabaşı Boulevard is also blocked — walking from İstiklal to Dolmabahçe via this route becomes impossible. Plan for a detour or wait until restrictions are lifted.

Sultanahmet and Sirkeci in the evening can feel overwhelming due to dense tourist crowds and persistent restaurant touts — some travelers find this more stressful than the quiet streets of Tarlabaşı.
