Is the sea water clean in Kemer Turkey — pollution and water quality

Recent reports from Göynük near Kemer say the sea can be very clean in the morning, but by evening floating trash may wash ashore. Travelers add that this tends to happen especially in the afternoon and is not a one-off event but a long-standing issue on different Kemer beaches.

Near the Armas hotel beach there is a drainage outlet that could potentially discharge into the sea, though no active flow was observed recently. A few meters of sand separate it from the water. Still, it's worth watching your step when entering the sea. The buoys are placed close to shore — chest-deep for an adult. Water shoes (coral shoes) are recommended for the rocky bottom.

Microplastic pollution in the waters off Kemer is a recurring issue that has been reported for several years. The exact source is unclear but is suspected to come from yachts and vessels. Local authorities have not yet brought the problem under control.
