Is the sea water clean in Marmaris Turkey?

According to recent reports, the sea is often cleaner in the morning, while some trash may appear near the shore after lunch. If you swim a little farther from the beach line, the water is usually clean.

There are also more positive reports: over 11 days, small plastic appeared only a couple of times and in small amounts, then cleared in about half an hour. In deeper water the visibility is excellent — you can see the bottom, and with a mask you may spot fish and crabs.

One report from an August stay says unpleasant floating trash could drift in every 1–2 days, making some people unwilling to swim.

Over a recent two-week period, the water near the shore was clean on only 2 out of 14 days. Debris levels varied along the coastline but were present almost daily.

Small plastic debris was again spotted near the shoreline. Cleaner water was only found in deeper areas away from the beach edge.

On the first day there was a lot of small plastic debris in the water near the shore, but the next day it was clean. Water quality can change significantly from one day to the next.
