Do foreign bank cards (e.g. Russian UnionPay) work in Abu Dhabi, and should I carry cash?

UnionPay cards from Russian banks (e.g. Rosselkhozbank) aren't accepted everywhere in the UAE, so it's best to carry some cash dirhams — especially for small purchases under 10 AED and entry fees at some attractions.

Which foreign UnionPay and CIS bank cards currently work in Abu Dhabi and the UAE for everyday payments?

The only confirmed detail in these messages is that Gazprombank’s UnionPay card, which used to work in the UAE, is now reported as not working. There were no confirmed successful reports here for Rosselkhozbank UnionPay or Belarusian bank cards.
