What is the weather like in Dubai in summer vs winter — can you walk outside?

One traveler notes that Dubai winters can be much warmer than often described: temperatures reach around +26°C, warm, comfortable and sunny — all locations are walkable and you can even sunbathe, not just walk around in a jacket.

For many travelers, Dubai can feel like a steam bath even outside peak summer: the city is muggy and you start sweating quickly. Walking is inconvenient not only because of the heat, but also because pedestrian infrastructure is limited outside the Burj Khalifa/Downtown area, so people often use a car or taxi instead of walking to malls and other places.

In Dubai, it already feels hot by late May: the sea is very pleasant for swimming then, but by July the water turns almost bath-hot. Summer is still not suitable for long city walks.

Recent reports say July temperatures in Dubai can reach about +50°C, making daytime outdoor time difficult even compared with other emirates.

In summer, Dubai is much easier by the water than in the city: on Palm Jumeirah, people can spend half a day at the beach, but built-up areas feel hotter because buildings radiate heat. Even in the evening, if there is no wind, it can still feel sticky outside, so July is better for beach and pool time than for walking around.

During New Year holidays at Dubai Marina, mornings are very comfortable for running and walking. Daytime is hot — beach and sunbathing. Evenings can bring a cool breeze: a long-sleeve shirt or hoodie is usually enough, occasionally a vest. Closed shoes like sneakers are recommended.

In winter (January), Dubai sits around 22–23°C with cooler evenings. Swimming is possible — many people swim at Dubai Marina. Pack pants, a sweater, and a light jacket. Choose a hotel with a large heated pool.

In July, Dubai heat is extreme: the sea feels like a hot bath, and going outside is only realistic at night. This is not an exaggeration — daytime outdoor activity is nearly impossible.

Even heat-sensitive travelers find Dubai's summer more bearable than expected — the heat feels different. Poolside is comfortable. In the city, move in short bursts: hotel → taxi → metro → mall. You can stand outside for about 10 minutes max. AC is everywhere.
