TL;DR
Yes, construction noise is a genuine issue in Da Nang — worksites can be inside the hotel building itself or directly outside, starting as early as 7am. Always ask the hotel about active construction before booking.
Construction can be happening inside the hotel itself — on your floor, right behind the wall. Walls shake from hammering, workers' voices and falling metal rods are clearly audible. Noise-cancelling headphones won't help in this scenario.
A backup hotel had excavators working directly beneath the building. Luckily the work was temporarily paused. It's a lottery — always ask the hotel directly about nearby construction status before arrival.
Noise isn't only from construction — neighbours may blast music at full volume early in the morning, especially if they're also awake due to nearby works. This is particularly rough if you've just arrived on a night flight and need to sleep.
A practical tip if you end up near moderate construction: a white noise or noise-masking audio track played through headphones can help you sleep in the morning. However, this doesn't work if construction is happening inside the building itself.
