What to do if Vietnam e-visa system flags your photo as 'taken from another source'?

Several travelers reported the same warning on the Vietnam e-visa website: the system shows a match percentage (e.g. 67.58%) and states the portrait photo appears to come from another source, meaning the application may be rejected.

The green checkmark warning doesn't always mean an automatic rejection — you can still proceed with the application, but there's a risk it gets manually rejected later.

The issue tends to happen when the photo was taken at a regular photo studio: that same photo may already exist online or in another database, which triggers the 'another source' detection.

To reduce the risk of rejection, the advice is to avoid reusing an old studio photo and instead take a fresh selfie on your phone against a plain light background before uploading.
