Every passenger got a blanket and pillow, and the entertainment system has English and Chinese options. The Vietnam arrival card was filled out mid-flight using free onboard wifi. At passport control, staff scrutinized a child's passport (photo taken at age 4, child now 10) and asked about the child's age — likely routine. Overall a positive experience.

During a Chengdu transit stop, draft beer at the airport hotel costs about 3 yuan per 0.5 liter, snacks are very cheap, but local sausages are sweet — kids didn't like them. Breakfast is served before the connecting flight. Less than 1000 yuan covered two transit stops (Beijing and Chengdu), with the Beijing hotel prepaid and the Chengdu transit stay free. Leftover yuan can conveniently be exchanged upon arrival in Cam Ranh.
