TL;DR
Beach access is often via steep stairs or rocky paths, so young kids are better off at the pool than the beach; going with children under 10 isn't very practical. Also expect large, loud Italian tour groups that can disturb sleep and rest.
Many Italian tourists are older retiree couples, very sociable and eager to join any activities the animation team offers.
Hotel food is decent and the variety lasts about a week — by day 6 the dishes start feeling repetitive. The à la carte restaurants were disappointing.
Italian tour groups can be very loud — talking loudly on the beach makes it hard to relax or nap there. If your room shares a wall with theirs, expect noise too.
Beach access involves steep stairs or rocks, which is inconvenient for toddlers. Traveling with very young kids isn't recommended — they're better suited to the pool than the beach. Older kids (10+) handle the beach fine.
The animation program was good and the hotel staff were friendly.
In May, Italian tourists were present but not the majority of guests, and there were no activities specifically organized for them.
